comments on the land of Moran

In the land of Moran they build ships out of twig trees? The Moranese people are friendly except to outsiders? You're limited to which clothing colors you can wear? Common fabric colors are probably hard to dye bright colors? Perhaps not the most logical ideas in hindsight.

I don't know where I imagined Moran would be, but I'm going to place it on the map to the northeast of the land of Celsythir, in the northern part of Tradlinya, around 50 degrees north latitude. I added to the shown section of the map new computerized text labels. (The text labels for Shayamorling and Morri-Mire are original to the map.)

the lost land of Moran

In my old, but newly rediscovered notes, there's a typewritten paragraph about the land of Moran. This is a fantasy land which I no longer know where it was supposed to be since it's not shown on my map of the world. I assume Moran was originally somewhere to the north or the east of Celsythir. I paraphrase here, instead of quoting verbatim, because my old notes are rather sloppily written.

MORAN
Moran is known for its rolling hills, its sparsely leaved twig trees, its and shipwrights. In the uplands people are mainly farmers or priests. In the lands near the sea people are mostly fishermen, traders, or shipwrights. Most live in small villages.

The Moranese people are good natured and calm. But they do not welcome non-Moranese to their land, and fight any southern or western influence.

In Moran one can only wear solid colors. Only in elaborate outfits are more than two colors used, or trimmings such as embroidery. Most garments are loosely fitting. Common fabric colors in Moran are maroon, deep violet, bright blue, kelly green, rust orange, bright red and rich brown. Men and married women wear leather boots. Fur is common in coats.

The Moranese generally have brownish-gold skin, greenish slanted eyes, and medium brown hair.

more about Marcollina

Acoording to some typewritten notes I found in with my artwork, Marcollina is (and I quote): "The keeper of the Ring of the Heavens. She is from the matriarchal land of Moran."

This tells me is that Marcollina is from a really old part of the story on this world. I don't recall anything about this "Ring of the Heavens", or what it signified. I assume it was a magical ring of the Tolkienesque sort. Marcollina is wearing a ring in my drawing (see previous post).

The land of Moran doesn't seem to be on the big map.

Marcollina

As well as mapping my fantasy world, I made numerous pencil drawings of characters.

This is a Marcollina. I know her name now because I wrote it on my artwork. I assume that she is from Celsythir and that she is a magician. She was not a major character because I don't recall her, but I like her picture.

My actual drawing shows her head to toe, in which her dress is floor length and she is wearing pointy shoes. I cropped this graphic to show detail.
