compass directions

On my fantasy map there's a mark showing the compass directions. Instead of north, east, south, and west, my map has these directions -- chalth, selth, tanlth, and merth.

I made-up rhyming compass directions. Not the greatest idea perhaps. I also have four consonants in a row on the word for south (tanlth) which looks a bit confounding. Of the four words, I like the simplest ones best, east (selth) and west (merth). All these words look a bit odd to me given the distance of time.

holding the map of the world

My old fantasy world map is huge. This photo of me holding up the map only shows a only a portion of it. The map is rolled up at the sides, and a section is folded underneath.

dreams burn down

Celsy was created years ago, back when I was a teenager. I spent many hours playing in my fantasy world. In my dreams, I was going to write stories, or even books, set on this fantasy world. But that never happened. Few of my ideas were ever put on paper. I stepped away from this fantasy world. I abandoned my aspirations of being a fantasy writer. Dreams burn down.

map of the world

I may not have found the notebook, but I do have the map. The map is brilliant. It's been a long time since I last unrolled it on the floor. Fantasy books always include maps, don't they?

Celsythir is the country in northern Nordinya. (The suffix of -thir on Celsy means land). Shydring and Fahlandring are regions within Celsythir. Labeled in pencil is an area called the Flanshirn steppe. There's a city on the west coast called Rinca near a large island called Camerinda.

North of Celsythir is the Chalthnor Ocean. To the west is the strait of Sywald, and to the southwest is the Wirajnor Sea. Not far to the southeast is the huge Selthnor ocean.

I have a map of this entire fantasy world. Wow.

lost notes

My old notes about Celsy are somewhere, probably somewhere very secure. They are written in a lab notebook with unlined paper, in a journal of sorts. It's something I wouldn’t consider throwing out. I thought that it would be fairly easy to find. But the notebook eluded it me on my earlier search.
